Since 2024, Mario Penniello has taken on a new challenge as a partner at Ship Management Group, where he serves as VP of Technical Operations. 

Leveraging his extensive background in marine engineering and his proven track record in technical ship management, Mario brings a hands-on, expert approach to his role. At Ship Management Group, he continues to apply his deep technical expertise and strategic insights to oversee and enhance the technical operations, ensuring the fleet's performance and compliance with the highest industry standards. 

Mario Penniello hails from Naples, Italy, where embarked on his maritime career after graduating in marine engineering from Istituto Tecnico Nautico Statale in his hometown of Torre del Greco. He began as an engine cadet and over the years, Mario progressed to the role of Chief Engineer on various cargo vessels, securing his full Chief license in 1992.

In 1989, Mario transitioned to passenger vessels, starting with M/V Achille Lauro. He further honed his skills with V. Ships Leisure Management and Airtours, a British tour operator, where he was promoted to Chief Engineer at the age of 31. His shipboard expertise was invaluable when he transitioned to a shoreside position with V. Ships Leisure in 2011, overseeing technical operations and maintenance for passenger vessels. Mario excels in budget management, regulatory compliance, and the strategic planning of maintenance to ensure safety and efficiency.

In 2017, Mario joined CMI, where he served as VP of Technical Operations and decided to join Ship Management Group in 2024, where he will continue to apply his extensive experience and leadership skills to advance the company's technical and operational excellence.

Renowned for his decision-making process and team-oriented approach, Mario has consistently demonstrated his ability to lead effectively, especially in crisis situations, contributing significantly to his team’s success. His commitment to excellence and company objectives is unwavering, making him a vital asset.
